My Summer on the Front Porch

This has been my most wonderful summer since we came to live in Michigan.  Thanks to my reliable little helper Kamrie and some of her compadres for cleaning for me and Mike quitting his job.  Of course it helped that we had only enjoyable guests (almost) this year.  What a treat.
I have been able to enjoy my front porch more then ever before.  What fun to sit there and wave back at the “wavers” in the cars going by.
Ahhhh, a front porch, who needs anything else?!

I must say, thinking about this last season, this area sure has changed and then again it stayed the same.   The folks that come to enjoy themselves here are very much interested in keeping the area pristine and they really are “into the nature thing”, lol.
Water sports are definitely pushing hard to be the No.1 activity these days. Hiking and biking are not far behind. Of course that doesn’t mean that just plain old “laying on the beach” is no longer important. We’ve had many couples staying with us specifically to lay around on the beach and get chocolate brown before having to go back to work.

Long story short,   Thanks everyone for a most enjoyable season, for your business, for your friendship. We hope you went back home refreshed and feeling well and that your tank is full until you can come to Benzie County again

Heehee, one really bad picture but there you have it – The Front Porch

Sis came to visit

The Beach this Morning

It is so dry and hot this summer, my flower boxes, even with the help of twice daily watering, are having a tough time making me happy.  So today, for the first time this season,  I bought Miracle Grow 😯

My plan was to keep my flowers fed with the help of a daily dose of coffee grounds. That actually works very well but now my flowers are pooped.

Long story short, I went into Frankfort to the Hardware store on Main Street and got the stuff.  One never goes into Frankfort without making the loop at the end of Main Street.

The beach was deserted this morning at 9:30.  Some birds were at the water’s edge and there were 2 guys playing with their paddle boards

Grey vs. green and shady

The beach is only about 600 yards away and the stairs are really almost done. Yay

My Garden

I didn’t have much time this summer to write for you, but I did find the time to take pictures!
How do you feel about reading some summer stories now that fall is here?

This garden belongs to a young family in Elberta, who are renting a home from us.  So, technically I could say “this is my garden” hehe.

It’s perfect and it looks a little like Martha Stewart had something to do with this, doesn’t it?
See for yourself

Everything is orderly, with walk ways. It’s just lovely- really.

There are tiny solar lights all around this garden, it looks beautiful at dusk 🙂

So, what do you think of “my garden”?

My computer…

… has been acting up lately. Well not lately, for the last year or so.  But since I rely on it for the business, I have not had the time to “clean it out”.  I think it is quite a process and I am always so afraid to lose things like all the email addresses I have so diligently collected from all of you.

I mean, it would be terrible if I could not get in touch with any one of you to let you know that things are happening on the blog, like a contest or what not, right?  Although I have to confess that I baked for Bella, the last winner of the cookies, only yesterday and only today did I package them. Now, I HAVE to find the time to take that package to the post office and finally send them to her.  She’s probably miffed at me for making her wait so long.

So anyway, today, as though he had been summoned by me, Dave Penne knocks on the kitchen door.  I was so thrilled to see him.  He’s a good friend, although we are not in touch very often. He is so busy and he has 2 daughters and a wife who like to spend time with him – go figure.   Dave has been helping me when I got things screwed up with the computer or when I have questions or, or, or.

Dave Penne

Dave Penne (I caught him by surprise)
For some reason, maybe the fluorescent lights, the pictures in that room are always green, blech!

Sometimes Dave complains about my messy office.  It’s the room/pantry right next to the kitchen. I have made a great mess of it.  Everything gets dropped there as I come from the cottages – I deposit things there to be picked up and put away in it’s proper place later.  “Later” seldom happens during the summer.
Mike asked Cindy not to dust under the desk anymore because she and the broom are pretty rough and often disconnect electronics from where they should be plugged in.  Also, I don’t do well with paperwork. I have notes and things everywhere on that desk.  It is a wonder that I have not drowned in cellulose, heehee

ehhhh...the errr....desk :)

ehhhh…the errr….desk 🙂

The wall behind the desk, yikes

hmmm...I am writing this post

hmmm…I am writing this post

Now I think it is much better to have the cottages clean for you than have a sparkling office, don’t you think?

Dave fixed what was wrong with the computer and wireless, we are in perfect working condition.  Thank you Dave 🙂
