It’s that time again…

Once again it is time to show some of the flowers.  I am somewhat disappointed with my inability 😯 to take beautiful pictures and to learn to take better pictures.
Some of these are rather washed out, because the sun is so bright today.  In your mind’s eye, please envision these with vibrant colors 😆

Hmmm,  this one is still deciding whether it wants to look good or just hang out and make no effort.

also not quite filled in yet are the little pots on cottages 1 through 6 (but getting there nicely)

The sink in front of # 1. There’s some Thyme in there as well as Lavender and other assorted orphans…

The sink is kind of a catch-all this year.  Ummm, did I say that last year as well?

Now comes the box by cottage 9

This box is always my favorite. The moss grew so nicely all around the outside of it.
I have planted mint, sage, pansies and nasturtiums in there for a salad and a drink 😆

Looks like a hot mess but really isn’t – the box on cottage 2

Cottage 8 – rosemary, sage, parsley – no thyme …

I can’t get enough, I want you to see each and every leaf, hehe

Is it 5 o’clock yet?

Cottage 7. Hmmmm, cilantro – not doing well in any of the boxes…

Another brilliant day today. The guests are out and on the beach and some brought their boat and are going fishing in Lake Michigan tonight

I have started

I have planted all the window boxes and the little flower pots.  Now I need not forget to water the little beauties and the pots and boxes should fill in quite nicely.  There are still herbs to be bought and I am looking for thyme and sage to fill in the blanks and maybe even some chives for interest and for the guests to use when cooking.

But I repeat myself, I think 🙂

We will start with
‘Talking Rocks’
They are located in the soap dish of the old sink in front of cottage 1

The office window

The box at cottage 8
See that cute little mocha pot?  It came from Mariah’s junk/”mosaic-ing” box – she let me have it 🙂

And here is the box at cottage 9.
I love the way that the moss grew all around it and it didn’t take long at all. Two or three summers and voila’ it looks great.  See the little guy?  He has moss coming out of it’s turban.
Note to Mariah: See, Toots, this little guy is cute after all!

To be continued

Rosemary and Sage

Not a recipe,
read on…

Pam Key stayed with us last weekend.  It was her second stay.  The first one was earlier this summer.  She was with Mitzie or is that Mitzy? – her small, white poodle.   We got along very well that first visit so she brought her husband this time around.

Pam left a wonderful letter for me in which she inquired about the little herb bundles that I put on the pillows when I have time.  I mentioned those herb bundles once before in passing.

They are there because I like the smell of Sage. I like Rosemary too, but I like Sage more.   Sometimes, when I have Lavender or Thyme, I’ll use that with the sage. Then it can be useful under the pillow when sleeping…ahhhhhhhhhh

Aromatherapy so to speak. I don’t like synthetic scents.

And that is all there is to it Pam.

Please note:  I would not put those little treasures on the beds of the fishermen that are here right now,  they would definitely laugh at me, heehee.  Joan, you know of whom I speak

Ummmm…a couple of months ago when I bought some fresh Lavender at the Elberta Farmer’s Market, I made a bundle like that for myself and stuffed it under my pillow.  It was wonderful.
The next morning I had forgotten all about the Lavender, when all I could see were these tiny little “droppings” in my bed, which made me freak out completely.
Of course in my drowsy head I thought they are mouse droppings, which would mean that there is a mouse in the house…   YIKES  –  that is one of the most paralyzing thoughts for me.  Give me spiders, give me snakes, but please keep the meeses away from this house.

It took me a couple of minutes to figure out that the lavender blossoms had all rubbed off the stalk and were all over my bed, heehee
