Frankfort’s Fall Festival 2010

Today was one of the most beautiful days you can imagine. The sun was out, the sky was blue, the temps were in the 70’s the leaves on the trees showed their fall colors and I baked cookies, hehe. Martha Stewart’s Buttery Pecan Rounds to be exact. Yum.

Ok, I know that’s not what you want to read about. You want to know how much fun the parade was.  Without further ado, here are the pictures of the parade. Sadly I never made it back into town to see all the other goings on.

So, first I went by Lee’s house. She has such a knack with decorations and beautification

And then I got to the parade staging area where there were all these pooches in their fun costumes:

😆  can you see the Wiener Dog in his banana suit?

Of course there were the horses…

…and giant pumpkins

…as well as lots of cute foreign and domestic cars

Roger Griner, republican candidate for County Commissioner

…a huge Lego pirate – arrrrrgggh

The Mennonite farmers…

Marcia Stobie, democratic candidate for County Commissioner

The queens of the Mutt March, Roxie and Lee.  That about does it for the parade.  I found it strange that there was total silence during the parade except for maybe some whoops and hollers as the floats went by.  I am going to school to ask where the heck the school’s band was.  They are quite good and should be heard other than at concerts once a year.

And when I came home I found a box in the mailbox addressed to meeeeee:

The Fuller’s had sent a huge hug for me.  I feel loved 🙂

I have a cool video of the Fall Festival, click here

Oh Boy, the weather

The weather sure wasn’t cooperating this weekend.

Saturday morning was gorgeous and the Fall Festival Parade went off without a hitch.

LuAnn and I found a spot in front of the drug store and pretty soon, there were a whole bunch of people we knew assembled, ready to watch:

After the parade, LuAnn and I walked back to her place, I drove home – I needed to get ready for another big event, namely

Cindy’s wedding

As Mike and I got on the road around 2:30 to drive to Honor, it started to rain, then it snowed heavy, wet snow and we noticed many, many cars leaving Frankfort.  Ohoh, the Fall Festival was over, everyone fled to warmer places like their homes.  Mike and I headed to watch Cindy get hitched and we made it just in time.  No pictures, because I forgot to take my camera.  I can tell you it was a great country hoedown in the middle of her beautiful, huge field in this immense white tent, there were hundreds of guests, none of which Mike and I knew.

Flower boxes

Yippeeeee, I found my camera.  No, Marc found my camera.  Mike offered him all that he had in his wallet to return the camera to me and wouldn’t you know it, the camera was in Mike’s truck.  I left it there last Thursday.

Ok, this one still looked alright so I didn’t mess with it.

I have found the perfect home for Sassy McQuackerson and Maisy for the winter

office window box

Looks a little like …the pumpkins are too small, maybe?

Ok, that about does it.  Today the sun was out in full force and it was nice and warm.  Very enjoyable.
