For some reason, I thought that camera batteries never wear out. I would just put it in it’s little charger and use it over and over again. Well apparently that isn’t so, grrrrrrr…
Until I find the money for a new battery – I have a savings account but it’s only for my Disney trips 😆 hehe –
You’ll have to look at pictures from last fall.
Going west on River Road
The back yard.
I may have already written that somewhere but it bears repeating: the colors are so much brighter this year. The oranges, reds and yellows are blazing.
This October has 5 weekends and so many days between those weekends, you should come up to Benzie County and visit 😉
Autumn is the best time of year to visit the many wineries and have a taste of their magic!
Forget the fake stuff. No matter how much money you spend at any given store for aroma, you can’t get it right unless you actually bake that apple pie, wash that white laundry or have those flowers in the house. You must walk through the meadows and along the shorelines to smell the meadow-y or the beach-y smell we all love. Anything else is a waste of money. I can’t wait to drive through the cherry orchards, the apple orchards, through the woods to get my very own aromatherapy.
Go outside people and enjoy what you have. And if you live where there’s nothing good to smell,
come up here to Benzie County and stay with me at the Wayfarer.
But don’t come into my kitchen because my nose just discovered a rotten lemon, blech!
Subliminal message? 😆
Smell the beach
smell the water
smell the trees
And here are some guests sitting down, smelling the proverbial roses,
enjoying some vino and cheese.
That’s how you relax!
I took a first look inside the cottages today and I must say, I am getting excited about having people come and stay next week.
Dear friends, a brand new book is coming my way and I would like to give it to one of my readers who loves Michigan as much as I do. You might remember the Pure Michigan sponsored photo contest from last year. This book is a compilation of all of the best photos that were submitted by various photographers staying here in Benzie County and elsewhere around the state.
The book has arrived in book stores – Merri Heffelfinger, from the Convention and Visitor’s Bureau, saw it at Borders the other day…I have one coming and I want you to have it.
Here’s the crux of the story, I cannot think of anything to ask you. However, I have wet your appetite. Keep looking for the contest because as soon as I think of something good, the contest begins.
Woohooo, at the Garden Theater tonight is the free preview of Youth in Revolt for us Benzie County peeps.
You remember “When Hollywood came calling“
The movie opens nation wide on January 8th.
So click here and enjoy the trailer 🙂
Here are the pictures from tonights premiere. As you can see the who’s who of Benzie County was assembled in the theater. No empty seats, people were turned away

Youth in Revolt – a fun movie with well known actors. It opened my eyes about 16 year old boys :0)
Here is the program of what you can expect this coming weekend
The Wayfarer is booked solid, but it’s always nice to take a day-trip
or book a room at one of the motels and resorts around the area.
Dangit, I decided to start on my diet again yesterday and therefore I am not able to go up to Frankfort to eat my way through “Taste of Benzie”.
When you think of it, there’s always one thing or another that comes up that has to do with food. If it isn’t dinner with friends, or having people over for cocktails, then it’s the Taste of Benzie or the Saturday market in Frankfort or this or the other restaurant is cleaning out their cupboards because they’re closing for the season, waaaaaaahhhhhh
Speaking of food, heh! – Katie brought over the most amazing Pesto, which she made from the basil in our garden. She makes it with walnuts not pine nuts. Interesting huh? It is so good, I could eat it with a spoon. Ummm…I have eaten it with a spoon 😳
Forgive me for blogging about food, today is my “fruit only” day. I am dreaming of a rustic roll from the bakery and some butter and then some ham on there.
