Exciting news, the Sleeping Bear Birding Trail (SBBT) is now open. All along M-22 from Manistee, past the Wayfarer, through the dunes and to Traverse City – all 123 miles, there are 34 recommended birding sites. This new trail is “Internet driven” it utilizes ebird” and there is an app for our smart phones but I haven’t been able to find it yet 😦
A number of entities were involved in the creation of the trail. Namely with the Michigan Audubon Society, the Leelanau Conservancy as well as the National Lakeshore
Welcome to Michigan’s first birding trail
In Arcadia today, there was a controlled burn in the Arcadia Marsh. It was quite a spectacle. The purpose of this burn was revitalization of native species.
There we’re quite a few spectators as the flames reached the edge of the road.
Wouldn’t it be so cool, if we could offer these fun bicycles, for rent, to our Wayfarer guests?
Can you imagine the fun you could have with something like that? I am going to find out where one can get something this fun

Today was a splendid day indeed.
No, the sun didn’t shine 😦
It rained hard this afternoon. And that’s actually a welcome sight. Finally, the snow is moving west. West you say? Yes, I heard there was a blizzard somewhere in Colorado today…
What I feel is so great about this day is the concert outside. Oh there was singing and swooping and nest-building going on; a huge herd of deer was feeding in the backyard. Of course, you guessed it, by the time I took out my camera, the herd was on the move again.
Welcome back to the Wayfarer – magnificent singers 🙂
