Goodbye Winter, finally…

I think I speak for all of us when I say ” good riddens” to the white stuff.

The last few days have been so beautiful and sunny.  The snow has been steadily melting. It is still very crisp and cold but that’s alright with me.  As long as that sun shines and takes with it the last of the snow, I am a happy camper 🙂

Today’s pictures:

I spotted the big ship on the horizon - beautiful

Frankfort beach and pier - almost all the snow is gone

Yes, I have heard from the weatherman today.  He says that there will be 1 to 2 inches of snow this Friday, blahhhhhh 😦

A Maple Syrup kind of Weekend

I just love Crystal Mountain!
They always have something fun going on.  Besides the fact that it is just beautiful to walk around
the property and watch the skiers and snowboarders,
they have a couple of nice bars and restaurants.

Yesterday they had the Maple Syrup Festival.  Mike and I went.
What a nice spring day it was.  Actually it felt more like a real nice winter day.
The sky was blue, not a cloud in the sky, the sun was shining brightly,
there was fresh fallen snow everywhere.  It was cold and wonderful.
I don’t know what happened with the weather. It has been snowing lightly every day this week.

As you can see, we arrived at the mountain around noon

The parking lots were full and we parked way out in the boonies

.

We smelled something, but it wasn’t maple syrup, hehe

Around the corner, still no maple syrup, instead the most delicious smell of barbecue chicken.
The cook was not in a smiling mood.  Maybe he didn’t like staring into the sun?

Inside the center they sold that good smelling chicken.  We didn’t get any. We had other plans…

Chainsaw carver.  He did some pretty nice things.

This table was the only maple syrup display.

So, we headed back outside and were on our way to lunch. But wait, what is this sound?
Country music fun by Sister Wilene upstairs in the ski lodge.  Off we went to check it out while enjoying a beer.

The place was packed with skiers enjoying their lunch

.

And that was it. The battery on the camera ran empty.  I could not take any pictures of the Thistle where we had a really nice lunch with a nice cocktail for dessert.  Then we went home and my husband informed me that he could hear the couch calling his name.
It was a great day!

Auto Parts

The other day Mike pointed out that a car must have driven into our ditch, yet again, sometime this winter.  When the snow melted this past week, the truth came to light.  Auto parts were strewn everywhere.

So, on my way into Frankfort this morning, I took some pictures.

I have a feeling it was some unlucky kid, on the way to school, zooming around the corner too fast, as usual…

Bathing Suits…

…have been mothballed again.  42 degree weather was a fluke.  Just look at the snow we got 2 days ago

As usual, don’t forget to click on the pictures once or twice to see all the details!

A lonely bench waiting for the first warm butt 🙂

The streets of Frankfort on March 8th, 2011 –

So much snow in one day, when we were all thinking of planting bulbs…

There you have it.
I think I heard  the weatherman say that there’s more snow coming today, blah.

Bathing Suit Weather !

It was 42 degrees this afternoon at 4 o’clock and the sun was shining bright.

Susan Filipiak requested photos of  The Lake.  I thought you might want to see what Betsie Bay looks like in late winter.
Tomorrow I will drive down to the Frankfort beach, I promise  🙂

Click on each picture to zoom in a little more.

Same spot as above looking toward the East.

So many seagulls sitting on the ice flows.  My new camera doesn’t zoom as nicely as my others.  This is as good as it gets…

Here we go – oooooooo

There is now a whole lot more grass showing than snow.   Great.  It isn’t pretty yet, however, we can imagine how beautiful it will all be in just a few weeks. For the first time in a long time I am looking forward to that.
I can tell you now why that is – Mike resigned from the bank last week, which means that he is the “full time help”  I talked about in my last post.

See, the sun was shining, melting the ice on top of the snow.

Is anyone still with me?

The Spaceship Earth Ride At EPCOT in Walt Disn...

Sheesh people,  I have been missing in action partly because I lost my camera (yeah I know, again) at Walt Disney World and partly because I know that you don’t want to hear from me – you want to see pictures.

Well, good news.  I got another camera  😆
Of course now is the time when the snow is melting and things around here don’t look too good.

The first guests are coming in mid- April and my calendar for the summer is filling up quickly.
I am excited about this new season – I will have full time help which will ensure that, hopefully, I won’t run around like a chicken with my head cut off any longer.  After all, this chick isn’t getting any younger.

How have you all been?  Please report, I want to know!
