Good Friday…a busy day!

It’s Good Friday, which means I better get myself ready for the first “no vacancy” weekend of the season.   The yard needed to be cleaned up so I went into town to buy some new rakes.  One for each boy! I love going to the hardware store downtown, it’s like a big social event down there.  Gossip is traded, jokes are told and one can get good tips for fixing this or that.

When my sister-in-law still lived here, she went to that very store, showed Randy a bent screw and asked him if he had a screw like that.  His answer “no, we do not sell screws like that, our screws are all straight”.    We love that place!

The hardware store After I left the hardware store with my shiny new rakes, I drove another block west to see Lake Michigan and that’s what I spotted there:

I am not sure what is going on there, I’ll have to call someone at city hall

Today is starting out to be a really beautiful day.  It is cold, but the sun is shining and the sky is a brilliant blue.  The birds are chirping like crazy – ready for some nice weather for a change.

We have a bunch of fishermen staying this week.  They come every year the week before Easter.  There’s always competition between their boats to see who got the biggest fish.  On the second day of their stay they hold a fish fry and everyone  is invited to join them.  They always have a good time.

Do you see those happy faces?  Catching fish means they don’t have to go to the store and buy any to bring home 😉

The day slipped by as busy as we were.  It is evening now and most of our guests have checked in.  One more is on the way and we are off to FFF aka Friday Fish Fry.

I hope everyone is going to have a great weekend.  Happy Easter!

Thank you for including me in your blog Iris – reading through your daily comings and goings is like going on a mini-holiday itself! How fortunate your guests are to experience such a warm welcome to your lovely Inn. I look forward to reading more and finding out how the fish fry turned out!

  2. We wish we were there, Mrs. Jones Have a great Easter.

  3. You are right. The hardware is a wonderful place. They not only helped me get “straight” screws..but whenever I needed help with anything like that when we owned the Main Sail they were full of information and suggestions. Got to love small town hardwares. Your page is so much fun. Seeing your wonderful pictures is something I look forward too. I know you have a busy schedule and it will continue to get busier, but I hope you keep doing this page…
